Dear friends in Kolping!
With the resent resignation of our National Treasurer, Joe Wuebbolt, and since the National executive has served 5 years, it becomes necessary to call for new elections. We owe Kolping brother Joe Wuebbolt and the members of the present National executive, a heartfelt "Thank you" for their long - term service.
In accordance with Article 9 of our constitution ( Basic Documents of the Kolping Society of Canada ) I have been authorized by the National President to conduct the elections by a letter vote. Under normal circumstances elections are held at National Conventions. However, in our situation, the distances of travel for a meeting are huge and so is the cost. At the present time no convention is planned.
I am calling, herewith, for nominations to fill the position of : National President, National Vice President, National Councillor, National Secretary, National Treasurer, National editor and publisher.
Each individual Kopling member in good standing may nominate one person for each position. All Incumbent National executive members may be nominated for re-election. The secretary of each local Kolping family should collect the nominations and forward them, no later than October 15th to: Councillor, Konrad Tucker 10632 - 74 Street Edmonton AB T6A2Y7. The President of each local Kolping - family should insure that the nominee-(s) from their group will accept candidacy. Only the names of confirmed candidates need to be forwarded.
Since we do not have a convention at this time and have not had a National Board of Directors meeting in the last 6 years I suggest to have a 5 - Way - Conference - call, before the Election. It would be an opportunity for suggestions and to discuss issues of concern.
Tentative day and time: October 26th, 12 Noon Toronto time. Board-members please call me if the date or time is not suitable. I will contact each local president to verify the phone number to connect.
If there are no objections to the proposed election procedures from the membership, the new National executive will than be elected by the National Board of Directors, consisting of all local Preasides and Presidents in a letter-vote. Election results will be published in the next news-letter.
