National Officer and Trustee Nominations
All National Officer and Trustee terms are two years (From National Convention to National Convention), all are up for re-election at each convention, and all must be Catholic.
The National Executive Board holds quarterly meetings on the second Monday of the first month of each quarter and one meeting on the Friday of Convention weekend. The primary purpose of the meetings is to update the officers on finances, the progress of the adopted Convention Proposals, and solicit feedback from the Executive Board Members and National Representatives. Each National Representative gives a report on their respective branch’s activities.
President (Officer):
After four successive two-year terms, the President must sit out one term before qualifying for a new cycle of election and re-election.
- The President, as executive head of the Society, has the duty, in collaboration with the Executive Board, to preserve in the Society the living spirit of Blessed Adolph Kolping.
- The President is responsible for the operation of the Executive Director’s Office and to coordinate the activities of the Officers.
- The President is responsible for the implementation of the programs and recommendations decided upon by the National Convention and Executive Board.
- The President conducts the National Convention and presides at all conferences and meetings. He/She may, however, appoint or designate a presiding Chairman to conduct any such conferences or meetings.
Vice President (Officer):
After four successive two-year terms, the Vice-President must sit out one term before qualifying for a new cycle of election and re-election.
- It is the duty of the Vice President to assist the President in the exercise of his/her office. During the absence or incapacity of the President, the Vice President assumes all the functions of the President.
Trustees (Total of Five):
No limit on successive two-year terms.
- The Trustees shall act as the selection committee for hiring the Executive Director.
- The Trustees shall act as the permanent audit committee.
- Under the direction of the President, the Trustees may be assigned the responsibility to maintain and uphold the National Kolping Program(s) in the local branches.
- The Trustees should serve on committees and projects that further the Society at the National, for Example: National Scholarship, Lenten Project selection, other ad hoc committees that may arise.
- The Trustees should be committed to attending all National Executive Board Meetings, and any other meetings which may be called within the two-year term of service.
